In order to live a healthy life, we must understand what "being healthy" really means. It is my life's work to help redefine the term "healthy" so that we can all benefit from a vibrant, energetic, efficiently running body in order to truly enjoy our lives. My experience in the kitchen, in study, interning and in clinical practice have prepared me to present you a new way of looking at health and wellness - one that actually makes sense, that works, and that is completely tailored to you as an individual.
I am an Ayurvedic Medicine Practitioner and Holistic Wellness Specialist. I became curious about nutrition well over a decade ago when I started to question what I was feeding myself and realized food was not the same as nutrition. I founded my wellness practice in 2013 with the idea of being resource of information for those looking to return to a better sense of themselves. In clinical practice, I focus on the root cause of an imbalance alongside dietary and lifestyle factors by digging deep into my clients' health history and habits in order to properly address their symptoms, and then focus on bio-individuality alongside lifestyle adjustments, nutrition and the development of a knowledgeable mindset in order to help them heal themselves and regain a healthy balance. Nothing is more important than feeling like yourself again, and to accomplish this, everything must be taken into account. This is what I am good at.
I studied holistic medicine at the Kerala Ayurveda Academy in Los Angeles and in Southern India, complemented with countless functional medicine seminars and a certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. My clinical rotations / internships include rounds at the Kerala Ayurveda Hospital located in Cochin, India, the Ayurvedagram Resort in Bangalore, India, the Vandashree Ayurvedic Chikitsaya Clinic in Malvan, India and in Fremont, California at the Kerala Ayurveda Clinic.
Drawing upon everything I have experienced in study and in practice has helped me create a unique point of view of the human body and on how we heal. It has allowed me to create a completely personalized wellness plans that suited to the unique body type, lifestyle, preferences and the goals of my clients, which has been the most rewarding part of my practice because even though we are all made of the same stuff, when it comes to our health and health goals, we are all so different. I prioritize finding balance in the most wholistic ways possible, taking into account every aspect of lifestyle and diet until I find the root of the symptom or imbalance my client is experiencing. This allows me to focus on helping you regain your body's most natural state in order to facilitate the restoration of health, healing and vitality.
Board Certified with the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and with countless hours of extended study with the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America have prepared me to spend a great deal of time traveling across India to work in Ayurvedic hospitals, clinics, retreat centers and academies. There I helped create treatment plans, I attended countless metabolic based lectures, facilitated out-patient consultations, directed Panchakarma detoxification therapies, formulated medicinal preparations, presented clinical case studies and studied Sanskrit. My travels have connected me with wonderful individuals doing great work in the healing modalities across the world and have allowed me to develop close ties with internationally recognized Ayurvedic scholars to help drive forward the development of international marketing strategies for the Ayurvedic retreat centers I worked alongside.
I am the Los Angeles State Chapter Chair for the non-profit organization Wholistic Health Alliance, which actively works towards bridging the gap between allopathic and holistic modalities as well as help dissipate some of the false notions of natural medicine within the community. I am also the Kerala Ayurveda Counselor and Practitioner moderator for the students of Los Angeles. Currently I am living in Rome, Italy collaborating on interesting programs with local doctors, universities and yoga studios. When possible, I contribute to a variety of wellness blogs, host a weekly health and wellness segment on an international Spanish radio show, and make appearances on featured segments raising awareness about holistic medicine.
The Wellness By Helen Ayurvedic Clinic opened its doors during the Summer of 2015 in Los Angeles and is now fully online! We can now work together wherever we are, so that distance no longer gets in the way of my ability to guide you to a better state of balance and healing.
