When I work with a client, I am not treating a person, I am not just looking at their dis-ease.
I am treating their life story.
I am an Ayurvedic Medicine Practitioner and Holistic Wellness Specialist.
Nothing is more important than fully feeling like yourself because it is from this place that everything else flows in your life, and to accomplish this, every aspect of who you are must be taken into account if we are to create a wellness plan that aligns with you.
This is what I am intuitively good at - the bigger picture of your life, and of your health.
We don’t really have a solid definition of health to turn to when we decide to commit to a better lifestyle. This is why in clinical practice, I focus on the “why,” or the root cause of an imbalance and make it a point to explain your physiology back to you so that you can understand how your lifestyle may be contributing to your discomforts, and therefore make the empowered decision to manage your health naturally from a place of intuition, balance and stability. You are a bio-individual and there is no one else like you walking this planet; you deserve a wellness plan that takes your uniqueness into account.
I studied holistic medicine and herbology at the Kerala Ayurveda Academy in Los Angeles and in Southern India, complemented with countless functional medicine seminars and a certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. My clinical rotations and internships include rounds at the Kerala Ayurveda Hospital located in Cochin, India, the Ayurvedagram Resort in Bangalore, India, the Vandashree Ayurvedic Chikitsaya Clinic in Malvan, India and in Fremont, California at the Kerala Ayurveda Clinic.
Board Certified with the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and countless hours of extended study with the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) have prepared me to spend a great deal of time traveling across India to work in Ayurvedic hospitals, clinics, retreat centers and academies. My rotation duties included creating treatment protocols, attending lecture, facilitating out-patient consultations, directing Panchakarma detoxification therapies, formulating herbal and medicinal preparations, presenting clinical case studies and studying Sanskrit. My work based travels have connected me with wonderful individuals pioneering the healing modalities across the world and have granted me the opportunity to manage the development of international marketing strategies for the Ayurvedic retreat centers in Maharashtra.
Drawing upon everything I have experienced in study and in practice has helped me create a unique point of view of the human body and on how we heal. My approach is truly mind, body and spirit since they are all one and the same, and they are equally important for your sense of balance. You cannot fully restore health without considering your physical, mental and emotional parts of yourself and it is the most complete way of looking at you as an individual, because it is all connected. This understanding has allowed me to create completely personalized wellness plans for my clients that are suited to the unique body type, lifestyle, preferences, emotions and goals of each individual, which has been the most rewarding part of my practice because even though we are all made of the same stuff, when it comes to our health and health goals, we are all so different. I prioritize helping you find balance in the most wholistic ways possible because it is the only way to regain your body's most natural, intelligent, efficient state, and from this place, the restoration of health, healing and vitality flows.
I am the Los Angeles State Chapter Chair for the non-profit organization Wholistic Health Alliance, which actively works towards bridging the gap between allopathic and holistic modalities to help dissipate some of the false notions of natural medicine within the community. I am also the Kerala Ayurveda Counselor and Practitioner moderator for the students of Los Angeles. Currently I am living in Rome, Italy collaborating on up and coming wellness programs with the local doctors, universities and yoga studios. When possible, I contribute to a variety of wellness blogs, host a weekly health and wellness segment on an international Spanish radio show, and make appearances on featured segments raising awareness about holistic medicine.
In order to live a healthy life, we must understand what "being healthy" really means. It is my life's work to help redefine the term "healthy" so that we can all benefit from a vibrant, energetic, efficiently running body in order to truly enjoy our lives.
The Wellness By Helen Ayurvedic Clinic opened its doors during the Summer of 2015 in Los Angeles and is now fully online.
